Tsista Kennedy

Beausoleil First Nations, Oneida Nation of the Thames, Turtle Clan

Tsista Kennedy, from Southern Ontario, is a self taught artist who has been working in the woodland style since the age of fourteen. Kennedy primarily works in a digital format, but made his way there from drawing with inks and painting with acrylics and watercolour. Touching on a wide variety of subjects, from residential schools and to indigenizing pop culture references, Kennedy’s style blends both traditionalism and modernism to represent who he is as an Indigenous man. Seeing the tablet as an endless artistic resource for remote or financially limited creators, Kennedy believes that digital art can help preserve and promote Indigenous cultures and traditions.

“My gift of creating artwork serves as a visual megaphone to the world…”
