Research and Development Assistant (Design Department)

We are looking for an organized and enthusiastic individual to fill our Research and Development Assistant position. This person will work closely with and report to the Head of Design. He or she will play a key role in keeping the Design department organized, researching new suppliers, laws and regulations, and keeping the company’s IP protected. The individual must be detail-oriented, have great communication and organizational skills.

A typical day at MINI TIPI involves:
- Saving, tracking, and organizing documents, and emails that are important to the design department
- Conducting research to support design projects (equipment, suppliers, requirements)
- Applying for Copyright in the US and CA
- Researching suppliers to source, fabrics, and finishes
- Tracking our KPIs for impact measurement
- Keeping the Head of Design advised of time-sensitive and priority issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up
- Fostering clear communication between the Head of Design and various team members, by taking notes during meetings, and providing follow up documentation when needed
- Keeping the Google drive organized
- Tracking time requirements for each phase in the development of each collection, to meet production deadlines
- Keeping up to date with sustainability requirements and practices
- Keeping tech packs organized and up to date
- Keeping design room organized and information confidential
- Maintaining the sample library; organizing, replenishing, tracking inventory.
- Executing inspection of fabric according to the process in place
We are looking for someone with :
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in french and english
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to conduct research and summarize clearly
- Knowledge of Google Suite (sheets, docs, drive)
- 1+ years’ experience in an administrative support, project coordinating support, or research and development position
- Collaborative
