We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Fabric Cutter / Production Associate to join our production team. As an integral part of our team, the Fabric Cutter / Production Associate will be responsible for tracing and cutting the raw material of all our products. This is a critical factor in the success of our daily operations, as quality is an important value to us and this starts with the precision of our production clerks.  You will be required to use a variety of industrial machines to help with bulk work.. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, manual, and a good team player, with a passion for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and  an appreciation for Indigenous arts and cultures.

 A typical day at MINI TIPI involves:

  • Take out the rolls of fabric and set up the items required for cutting
  • Tracing and cutting fabrics for production
  • Following safe work procedures and standards
  • Properly preparing products before entering the sewing room
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the department
  • Labeling finished products for sale
  • Ensuring MINI TIPI’s quality standards are followed and raw material is screened properly
  • Following instructions given by the Production Coordinator
  • Lifting and moving products and rolls of fabric (up to 50lb)
  • Safely using electric cutting tools
  • Following the daily plan for mapping and cutting procedures
  • Documenting the inventory for daily quotas
  • Calculating the layers required to produce the quantity of products for the sales team.
  • Effectively and efficiently meeting deadlines set by team
  • Compiling and storing fabrics in an organized manner
  • Analyzing pattern placement to best utilize the fabric use and waste
  • Performing repetitive tasks independently
  • Meeting individual daily quotas

We are looking for someone with :

  • Good physical condition to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to distinguish colors
  • Autonomy and organization
  • Knowledge of patterns and use of cutting tools
  • Good hand to eye coordination
  • A steady, accurate hand, for cutting
  • A good understanding of textile characteristics
  • Work quickly and under pressure
  • Team spirit and open-mindedness
